UNWANTED VISITOR

Unwanted Visitor -

This Cold.

Making me miserable.

Making me Feel -

Other worldly.

Cotton-brained and

Blurrry eyed.

Sneezing- sharing

Germs with

Throw pillows

And my cozy blanket -

Making apologies

As I snuggle

On the sofa

I wish for

The enemy to

Exit - take this evil and go.

Instead -

I'm killing it softly

With an arsenal of vitamins,

Cold pills, antibiotics.

It will go down before

Seven to Ten days.

Or ELSE.

Blessings and may your days remain cold-free!

  2. Thanks, Pat. I am so impatient when it comes to feeling rotten. I know it will pass but the passing is painful!

  3. Oh, I know how you feel. Take care of yourself and do feel better soon.

  4. Poor thing. I used to have a chemistry teacher back in the dark ages who offered a helpful suggestion for anyone beset with a cold, for which there was no cure. He suggested stepping from the shower, and then standing in front of an open window to drip dry. That, he said, would likely lead to pneumonia, for which there IS a cure. (Unfortunately, one of the stages of recovery ... is a cold.)

  5. I hope you feel better soon. I hate colds! One time on the Beverly Hillbillies, Granny said she had the cure for a cold. Mr. Drysdale got all excited until she told him "you drink the cure and then in 7 - 10 days you will be all right."

  7. Everyone at work (except me) has had a nasty tasted of cold season...and we all wear masks all day! I hope you feel better soon and now you can have immunity for the rest of the fall and winter!

  8. Thanks yaya. I sure hope to have immunity after this. A really nasty bout with the aches and whole deal.
On the tail end at last.
Infection too so antibiotics are working.
Spending a day in the country so have to feel good to enjoy this fall weather.

  10. Hoping you are feeling better. I keep remembering some crazy poem about Sniffles and Whiffles. If you recall its name please leave a comment. Was it Christopher Robin or Milne that wrote it? Any literary types listening?

  11. would you mind helping my sister's granddaughter, Alyssa, by writing a story or dialogue as a grandmother would about angels on her website, http://friendsofalyssa.com/. She is a very sick 14 year old in the hospital with a brain malformation undergoing procedures with a pending craniotomy in the next few days when she gets her strength up.
Here's what I wrote today on her messages page: Well, Sweetie. Guess you need to chow down and get some more strength. And maybe keep one eye open for that Guardian Angel who keeps giving more and more time to build up your energy level.

Hey, let me know what your Guardian Angel’s name is? Is it a he or a she? Personally, I think it is a guy. I like their bigger wingspan myself. But then again the girl angels I heard have softer feathers. Let me know how the feathers feel. If you need to do deep breathing maybe a guy angel can help. The softer feathers are more ticklish. And I know you are ticklish.

Hmmm. You got to start a journal with this angel. I’ll send you a blank book for this.

PS. I hear angels do a lot of listening and watching while you dream.

  12. Thank you so very much for your inspiring words to Alyssa. Maybe you'd like to share my 'Pray It Forward' post for her: http://crayzys.blogspot.com/2011/11/pray-it-forward-for-alyssa-14-year-old.html
God Bless. Writing is so hard when it lays so heavy on your heart.

Ah, Spring and all her glory.

I'm enjoying the spring weather that has finally arrived in Ohio bringing blooming pear trees, red buds and tulip trees. How about you? Do you love spring as much as I do? I spent a day on the patio, putting out the table, chairs, umbrella. I painted a white wicker plant table and have decided it's too good for the patio. I plan to use it in the bathroom instead. Just when I thought winter would last forever, spring arrived with temperatures in the 70's. I noted buds covering my rose bush and a robin building a nest in the crevice of my chimney. I wanted to let them stay but they managed to leave so much debris at my front door that I had no choice but to shoo them away. Hopefully they've moved on to one of the many trees and bushes in my community, a more cozy place for raising babies. When I was a kid growing up in Putnam County, WV, I was outside at the first glimpse of the sun coming through my bedroom window. I ran through our yard, down through the orcha

The Dreaded School Pictures

This year when my children brought home their school pictures, I cringed.  These kids can leave home looking cherubic, but the minute they pose for that school photographer they are transposed into unrecognizable beings.  My middle daughter brought home pictures bearing her name and room number that couldn't have been my offspring. Nor a distant relative. I had worked for hours on this child. Her hair was parted in the middle and drawn into a cute little ponytail over each ear. Even though she is at an awkward age, she looked adorable when she went out that door. Her missing front teeth only added to her charm.  The kid in the picture has her mouth open wide displaying ugly dark gaps. Her one visible ponytail is lopsided, her part is uneven, and her bangs look like they were cut with pinking shears. I know this isn't my child because I always give my children a good haircut before they have their pictures taken. The only thing vaguely familiar is the sweater t

A Revolutionary New Diet...

Recently I went on a diet. Like most diets this one was scheduled around a major life event. My daughter's wedding. There would be no shopping for a mother-of-the-bride dress until the pounds came off. Typically I go on a diet on Monday and by Wednesday I've folded beneath the weight of a German chocolate cake. I've been hijacked by as little as a stale pink sugar wafer discovered in the dark recesses of the bread drawer. But this time things were going to be different. I could tell as I went to get the mail and discovered the first crocus of the season. Life was looking up. Even though an icy rain began to fall, my spirits weren't dampened. Not even when huge drops pelted me on the head and I had to dash inside. My latest plan would revolutionize dieting. If it worked for me it would work for the world. I smelled a book deal. I could see myself all made-over and liposuctioned sitting between Oprah and Dr. Oz. It was full speed ahead. Gone were those complex menus
